Why we walk for Apraxia Kids!

We walk to support all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech - Apraxia Stars like Zack! To show these children they are not alone and to acknowledge all the hard work they must do to overcome communication challenges that affect their day-to-day lives, like four years of speech therapy-virtual, in school, outpatient, you name it. Like practice at home. Like repetition over and over and over to help the brain with those motor planning difficulties. Like learning to make friends on your own, to advocate for yourself, to stand up to bullies, or do the right thing, all while not having the words or the confidence to do so.

We walk to raise funds for the mission of Apraxia Kids – to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.
