Erika was diagnosed with suspected Childhood Apraxia of Speech at 25 months old after receiving speech therapy for six months without any progress. Today, Erika is a junior in high school enjoying her teen years with her friends and looking forward to graduating from high school in 2026. Erika is determined and persistent and one of the most dedicated people you'll ever meet. When she wants to accomplish something, whether it be learning to speak or starting the first Neurodivergence Club at her high school, she is always successful. She never takes no for an answer.
Apraxia-Kids, then called CASANA, was instrumental in helping us get the appropriate kind and amount of speech therapy that Erika needed. We will be forever grateful for the difference this group made in Erika's life.
Do you believe, “Every Child Deserves a Voice?”
We do… and we invite you to join our team at the Walk for Apraxia. By joining our team, you will walk beside us as we celebrate all the Apraxia Stars and support our efforts to raise funds for Apraxia Kids. With these funds, Apraxia Kids will continue to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.
Unable to walk? That’s ok! You can still participate in helping our team meet our fundraising goal by making a donation now.
Together we can accomplish amazing things for our Apraxia Stars.
