Our beautiful, smart and extremely loving daughter, Elise, was diagnosed with Apraxia of speech. The road has been extremely emotional and beyond difficult but Elise is resilient and tries so so hard
What is Apraxia?
Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for children to speak. Children with the diagnosis of apraxia of speech have a good understanding of language and know what they want to say, but they have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex sequenced movements that are necessary for intelligible speech.
Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
I walk to support all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech - our Apraxia Stars. To show these children they are not alone and to acknowledge all the hard work they must do to overcome communication challenges that affect their day-to-day lives.
100% of the funds raised during the walk support research, community outreach, educational opportunities, financial aid and more for individuals with apraxia and their families. All proceeds support Apraxia Kids, the national nonprofit foundation for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder in which the brain has difficulty coordinating the motor plans to communicate to the mouth when and how to move to create speech sounds, syllables and words.
Please help me meet my fundraising goal by making a donation now or by joining our team. You, too, can make an impact for children and families affected by apraxia!
I believe, “Every child deserves a voice”.
