What is Apraxia of Speech -
Julian was diagnosed with Apraxia of Speech at the age of three. For those who don't know, Apraxia of Speech is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for children to speak. Children with the diagnosis of apraxia of speech generally have a good understanding of language and know what they want to say. However, they have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex sequenced movements that are necessary for intelligible speech.
Julian started speech therapy when he was first diagnosed and continues therapy twice a week to this day. Thanks to therapy, Julian has made tremendous improvements in his overall speech. He continues to push himself daily and shows us the true meaning of never giving up. We are so extremely proud of him.
Why we walk for Apraxia Kids -
Walk day is a chance to celebrate the efforts, persistence, and resilience of children with Apraxia. On their special day, children with apraxia get a chance to shine brightly (our shining stars) and be recognized for all they have accomplished. It's a day that is truly all about them.
Join Us -
We would love for you to join our team and come out and celebrate not only Julian but all the other boys and girls with Apraxia! They will also have fun activities, entertainment, and more, so come join in on the fun!
Unable to walk?
That’s ok! You can show your support for Julian by making a donation to help our team meet the fundraising goal. By donating, you help Apraxia Kids be able to provide education, advocacy, support, and research for thousands of kids, families and professionals each year.
Together we can accomplish amazing things for our Apraxia Stars. We believe, “Every child deserves a voice”
