Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
When Teddy was around 15 months old, we knew he was already behind with his words; we got on the wait list for First Words at CHEO, and found a private speech language pathologist while we waited.
As time passed Teddy made very little progress with making different vowel and consonant sounds, and we started using sign language. He was able to demonstrate how well he understood what we were saying, but was unable to use words as expected.
We found an Apraxia specialist when Teddy was almost two and a half years old, and have been working with her weekly. Teddys progress has been amazing, I don't know how we would have done this without her.
We are walking for apraxia to help fund the research, to bring awareness, and to help support other families with kids who have apraxia.
Join our team and walk with us, or donate if you can!
