Welcome to my personal fundraising page for the Walk for Apraxia.
My nephew, Benny, was diagnosed with childhood Apraxia of speech. Childhood Apraxia of speech is a motor speech disorder where children have great difficulty planning and producing the muscle movements of the tongue, lips, jaw, and palate needed for speech. Benny understands everything you say, knows what he wants to say, but sometimes has difficulty getting his words out.
Imagine knowing what you want to say, but not being able to say it...
With help from amazing speech pathologists, school, and the support from our family and friends, Benny has shown amazing improvement! We are so incredibly proud of him. Benny has been such a light in our life - he always knows how to make us laugh and his smile can truly make your day. He is such a blessing to our family and I'm so gratefu to be his aunt.
My family and I would like to show our support for Benny and for a great cause by walking in the Apraxia walk in Chicago at Soldier Field in September. The Walk for Apraxia is the official gathering of over 80 cities, joining together, to raise awareness and funding for Apraxi programs and research. The walk supports the mission of Apraxia Kids to strengthen the support sysems in the lives of children with Apraxia of Speech.
Thank you again for your support and for making a difference!
