Welcome to my personal fundraising page for the Walk for Apraxia.
I Walk for Apraxia to show my support for children in my community with apraxia, our shining stars. I Walk to show these stars they are not alone.
Every dollar raised helps support Apraxia Kids. I believe in the work Apraxia Kids does to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia so that each child is afforded their best opportunity to develop to their full potential.
I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation? Your donation goes to fund amazing programs like iPads for children who need it to communicate, parent and speech therapist workshops, research, and a program to assist families in need with speech therapy costs.
Thank you again for your support in this very important cause.
Hey! I’m Ashley, Tristan’s mom. I just wanted to say a few words for those who take the time to sign up and/or donate to this walk. Tristan is 6 years old going into Kindergarten this year. He is bright, sweet, loving, funny, kind and all around a great little boy. I had never heard of the word apraxia before my son was diagnosed with it a few years ago. It’s a condition that Tristan is working hard daily to overcome! It’s not a common term used so when someone wants to know why my six year old isn’t talking like his peers and I tell them why they usually just look at me and say I’ve never heard of that. I completely understand because I was once like that too but I believe this walk is for me and others to help spread what this is. It’s a chance for families to come together to get to share our stories and understand we aren’t alone in this. Our kids aren’t alone. So thank you for reading this and I sure hope you come and join the walk and learn more about apraxia and all that it is about!
