Welcome to my personal fundraising page for the Walk for Apraxia!
What is Childhood Apraxia of Speech? CAS is a neurological pediatric speech sound disorder. Within this disorder, children will have difficulty making the accurate movements needed for speech. These inaccurate movements result in errors of speech sounds and speech prosody. There is currently not a direct known cause for CAS. Children with apraxia will most often need intense speech therapy, and may even use AAC (augmentative and altnernative communication).
If you know me and know my background, you know that some of the best kids I've worked with have been diagnosed with CAS and use AAC. Those are 2 of the main reasons why I wanted to become an SLP and work with this population.
Every dollar raised helps support Apraxia Kids. I believe in the work Apraxia Kids does to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia so that each child is afforded their best opportunity to develop to their full potential.
Any donation is welcomed and greatly appreciated! Your donation goes to fund amazing programs like iPads for children who need them to communicate, parent and speech therapist workshops, research, and a program to assist families in need with speech therapy costs.
Thank you again for your support in this very important cause.
