Welcome to our personal fundraising page for the Walk for Apraxia.
Some of you are aware and others not so much about this journey regarding Marcus. He has a disability called Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) which affects his speech/language. He was officially diagnosed in June 2018. He knows what he wants to say but has a hard time saying it. Cause is unknown, but it’s more common among boys and happens to every 1-2 kids out of 1000. Finding him the proper help and resources has been challenging. But we've been doing research and networking to find out as much as we can to get Marcus the help he needs. This has been our journey since 2017.
We Walk for Apraxia to show our support for children in our community with apraxia, our shining stars. We Walk to show these stars they are not alone. We walk for Marcus' Voice - How Sweet It Is!
Every dollar raised helps support Apraxia Kids. We believe in the work Apraxia Kids does to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia so that each child is afforded their best opportunity to develop to their full potential. Apraxia Kids has educated us on resources for Marcus as well as brought us together with other families locally and outside Maryland who are dealing with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).
