Welcome to my personal fundraising page for the Walk for Apraxia.
I Walk for Apraxia to raise awareness for the speech disorder which my son Ricky struggles. Unlike most children, Ricky did not have any words at the age of three. He was able to communicate only through facial expressions, grunts and pointing to what he wanted. Through an intensive therapy, he has been able to find his voice but continues to need intensive speech therapy to form certain sounds.
The work Apraxia Kids does strengthens the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia, and their family, so that each child is afforded the best opportunity to realize their full potential. We have provided research done by Apraxia Kids to Ricky's teachers in order to educate them on his disorder so they can better support his needs and classroom development.
I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation? Your donation goes to fund amazing programs like iPads for children who need them to communicate, parent and speech therapist workshops, research, and a program to assist families in need with speech therapy costs.
Thank you again for your support in this very important cause.
Ricky taught me that Raptors could run 24 mph, however I will be moving a more pedestrian 2.4 mph during this walk.
