Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
Hello everyone as some of you know our little Bee was diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech last October. CAS only affects 1-2 out of 1,000 children mostly boys. It’s a lifelong struggle where the brain knows what to say but the connection to the motor system doesn’t work properly resulting in incorrect sounds. So as an average child can naturally make sounds and produce correct sounds a child with CAS cannot. As you can imagine the diagnosis was quite devastating. As we continue to explore different options to help Ben we ask that you consider donating to Apraxia Kids they are an amazing organization that helps children like Ben.
I walk to support all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech - our Apraxia Stars. To show these children they are not alone and to acknowledge all the hard work they must do to overcome communication challenges that affect their day-to-day lives.
I walk to raise funds for the mission of Apraxia Kids – to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.
Please help me meet my fundraising goal by making a donation now or by joining our team. You, too, can make an impact for children and families affected by apraxia!
I believe, “Every child deserves a voice”.
