Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
This year we learned that Lukas has Apraxia. He has been working hard these past couple of years with his Speech Therapist, Katie, who is amazing at ChildServ. He is learning how to shape his mouth to form words and sounds and has come a long ways since he started. Lukas is a chatter box to say the least, and is also very social and outgoing, so with the help of others he will be talking non-stop before I know it! We are excited as Lukas gets to start Pre-K this year and I am positive it will be another growing year for him as he continues to learn and try new things.
Although we are new to Apraxia and are still learning about it, we want to support all of those a part of the Apraxia family.
I walk to support all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech - our Apraxia Stars. To show these children they are not alone and to acknowledge all the hard work they must do to overcome communication challenges that affect their day-to-day lives.
I walk to raise funds for the mission of Apraxia Kids – to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.
Please help me meet my fundraising goal by making a donation now or by joining our team. You, too, can make an impact for children and families affected by apraxia!
I believe, “Every child deserves a voice”.
