2019 Chicago Walk for Apraxia

Blue Steel

Welcome to our fundraising page for the Walk for Apraxia! Our son Samuel will be 3 in September and has childhood apraxia of speech. He began speech therapy at 16 months and now has speech therapy four times per week. We are so grateful for the speech pathologists that are helping him to find his voice!

Speech apraxia is a disorder in which a person struggles with the coordination and planning of the movements necessary for speech. It is a lifelong condition that someone does not simply "grow out of." As a result, it requires intensive speech therapy with a specific approach. Apraxia Kids is the national organization that helps with research, advocacy, and training professionals and caregivers in how to support individuals with apraxia.

Every dollar raised helps support Apraxia Kids. I believe in the work Apraxia Kids does to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia so that each child is afforded their best opportunity to develop to their full potential.

Would you please consider making a donation? Your donation goes to fund amazing programs like iPads for children who need it to communicate, parent and speech therapist workshops, research, and a program to assist families in need with speech therapy costs.

Thank you again for your support in this very important cause.
