Welcome to our Walk for Apraxia Team Cole page!
We walk to support Cole and encourage him to keep working hard! He rocks it at his speech therapy appointments and working at home. Even with the support of an amazing team, having apraxia can be lonely and hard for Cole when people around him can't understand everything he is saying. We are excited for the opportunities that having an Apraxia Support group will bring, and can't wait to be a part of our first event this year! Thanks for stopping in!
We’re helping children find their voice! By joining us, you are a partner with Apraxia Kids in its efforts to provide support to children and families on their journey with apraxia. You can participate even if you are unable to be at the Walk by making a donation to support our efforts.
Cole's story: We first noticed Cole was having a difficult time trying to turn his baby babble into words. One night when he was around 2, he was attempting to say "dada" but no sound was coming out (called groping). I could tell he was struggling and made an appointment with his pediatrician, who referred us to speech therapy. I had heard of speech apraxia a few years earlier when I was researching speech delays for Cole's older sister, who needed a few months of speech therapy but did not have an apraxia. I am so glad I did the research and was prepared to help Cole when I saw him struggle. It has been great to find our own little community of apraxia kids and we are happy to support other kids and the apraxia cause!
Check out how our team is progressing towards its goal. Your donation goes to fund amazing programs like iPads for children who need it to communicate, parent and speech therapist workshops, research, and a program to assist families in need with speech therapy costs.
Thank you again for your support in this very important cause.
