2021 Baltimore Walk for Apraxia (Virtual)

Let's Blaze for Isaiah

Hello Supporters,

Isaiah's primary language was sign language for the first few years of his life. By age two, he started seeing a speech therapist. We tried everything, but we still could not easily understand Isaiah. By age three, he was diagnosed by Kid Connections Therapy for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), aka Apraxia. Apraxia is a neurological disorder that affects the brain pathways involved in planning the movements involved in producing speech. The brain knows what it wants to say but cannot properly plan and sequence the required speech sound movements. Current research estimates that 1 out of every 1,000 children is diagnosed with Apraxia. Children with Apraxia will not outgrow it on their own. They also do not acquire the basics of speech just by being around other children. Therefore, speech-language therapy, specifically by an SLP trained in Apraxia, is necessary. We need your help to spread awareness.

We welcome you to join our team - Let's Blaze for Isaiah! In 2019, we raised well over $1,000. Your donations allow Apraxia Kids to continue helping children with Apraxia find the support they need to speak. It also provides families with the resources they need so that they won't feel lost and alone. We stand with you during these challenging times and offer our prayers and well wishes for a better year to come. Please stand with us and help make a difference in the lives of thousands of families impacted each year by CAS.

We wish you and your family a healthy and happy year,

Tiffany, Jerrell, Isaiah, and Gabriella
