2021 Westchester Walk for Apraxia

Julia's Ju-Ju Bees

Join us on team "Julia's Ju-Ju Bees" as we walk for Julia!

Julia has so much to say!  She is smart, funny and kind.  Julia is an amazing and beautiful girl who struggles to create intelligible speech.  She knows exactly what she wants to say but creating the correct words and sounds are difficult for her.  She works very hard to "pull out her 'S' sounds", "tuck her lip for 'F'", and to clearly use pronouns and plurals.  She has spent countless hours over the last two years with her speech therapists working on her speech.  Covid added new challenges as she received speech virtually on zoom.  It is important that we walk to recognize her accomplishments and the hard work that she puts in every day.  It is important for us to show Julia and all the local Apraxia Stars we support them.  We walk to increase the understanding and awareness of Childhood Apraxia of Speech "CAS", a rare and severe speech disorder.  CAS effects 1 in 1,000 chidren.  Julia is our 1 and we will do all we can to supprort her as she fights to find her voice!

We invite you to join team "Julia's Ju-Ju Bees" at the Walk for Apraxia.  By joining our team, you will walk beside us as we celebrate all the Apraxia Stars and support our efforts to raise funds for Apraxia Kids.  With these funds, Apraxia Kids will continue to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.

Unable to walk?  That’s ok!  You can still participate in helping our team meet our fundraising goal by making a donation now.

Together we can accomplish amazing things for our Apraxia Star, Julia and all the other Apraxia Stars in our community.
